Valentine’s Day 2026 Delivery Guidelines for Families

Publication Date

As Mardi Gras festivities coincide with Valentine’s Day this year, Tulane Mail Services is preparing for an especially busy holiday period. To help ensure your student receives any mailed gifts or care packages in a timely manner, we kindly ask families to review and follow the guidance below.

Recommended Delivery Timeline

Because Valentine’s Day (Saturday, Feb. 14) falls immediately before the Mardi Gras holiday closure, we encourage families to plan ahead.
To guarantee delivery before the break, please schedule all Valentine’s gifts—such as flowers, bakery treats, or other mailed items—to arrive no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.

Please note that Tulane Mail Services will be closed and unable to accept deliveries from Saturday, Feb. 14, through Tuesday, Feb. 17. Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Important Addressing Requirements

To ensure smooth handling and timely notification, all deliveries for students living on campus must follow university mailing procedures:

  • Address all items to the student’s official Tulane mailing address, including their mail code number.
  • Do not send packages or flower deliveries directly to residence halls. Residence hall front desks do not accept deliveries from outside vendors.
  • Please include the student’s contact phone number on the mailing label. This helps Mail Services alert students promptly when perishable items arrive.

Perishable Item Pickup Details

If a student receives flowers, baked goods, fruit baskets, or other perishable gifts, these items will be available for pickup at the Warren Mail Services location, situated on the north side of the building across from Weatherhead Residence Hall.

In addition to a phone call for perishable items, students will also receive the standard email notification for all packages delivered to their mailboxes.
